Abstract

The research focuses on internal migration phenomena during 1991-2006. Using vital statistics data and based on economic theories of migration, the research describes and explains the level, directions and factors of internal migration in Kazakhstan given disparities in regional economics. Besides, the research highlights the variations in migration behaviour on different life stages of individuals using the 1999 national census data.
