Abstract

The need of water keeps increasing in line with population growth while the availability of water is limited and tends to decrease. However, water can also be seen as recycled substance that can actually be used in the sustainable way. Therefore, discussing water management within good governance is far more essential instead of its physical scarcity. This thesis tried to elaborate various strategies that has been applied in several countries in dealing with drinking water provision. The principles of contingency theory and policy transplantation is widely used in the analysis because all problems are basically context-dependent. By utilizing those principles, expectantly the success or failure of such strategies can be seen more comprehensively. And lesson learning from them can be more applicable in other places and time.
