Abstract
This research aims to analyse the (possible) relationship between Dutch rental legislation and retail diversity. Within the empirical part of the thesis fifteen experts consisting of retailers, investors, lawyers and real estate advisors where interviewed. The results of the interviews have shown that the Dutch rental legislation has a negative influence on the retail dynamics (flow-through). Furthermore, there has been shown that flexibilisation of legislation will possibly leads to further increase of chain companies which has negative implications for the retail diversity.
