Abstract
Research aims to investigate whether the social network deepens the sense of belonging among Syrian migrants in the Netherlands. Background of the research gives general view about researches which tackled these two concepts. Thirteen in-depth interviews were conducted with Syrian immigrants in the Netherlands. Verbatim transcribing for each interview was done in order to serve the requirements of qualitative analysis of the data. Data analysis was done by the help of computer program ATLAS.ti (version 5.2). Findings suggest that immigrants try to keep links with their relations back home. Besides that, maintaining relations with social network back home strengthen their sense of belonging to their homeland. In regard to the social network in the Netherlands, it seems to be helpful means to integrate into the society and becomes more familiar with the Dutch traditions and customs. Also, social network in the Netherlands deepens their feeling of belonging to the Netherlands.
