Abstract
Peri-urban areas are increasingly complex and a specific entities with adaptive capacities. Transitions are a feature of complex adaptive systems to adapt to changed contexts, including fundamental changes. Warsaw’s peri-urban area is currently going through a transition, from heavily industrialised towards a service economy, with fundamental spatial(-economic) consequences.
