Abstract

This research provides insight in the way public services can influence the general satisfaction of the new merged municipality in two villages. The satisfaction of the citizens in Balk and Lemmer were measured in their merged municipality, de Fryske Marren. Other factors were also taken into consideration, such as the relocation of the City Hall and for each village specific, the renovation of the village centre for Lemmer, and the arrival of an ASC in Balk. Data was conducted via surveys and analyzed through descriptive and non-parametric statistical tests. There were significant changes in satisfaction of the citizens for the measured factors.
