Abstract

to what extent is size explanatory for a shopping centre? the performance of 72 shopping centres with a 7 year track-record were used to assess the relation between size in gross lettable area and rental growth (compounded average growth rate). Amongst 22 other variables, size was tested against the performance and it turned out that size was for r²=6% explanatory for performance. the best predictor for performance was unemployment growth with an explanatory power of r²=29%.
