Abstract
Objective. The objective of this thesis is to explore what stroke patients in a rehabilitation clinic expect from being home after leaving the rehabilitation clinic and what they experience at home. Place attachment. The concept of place attachment is used in this thesis to understand how participants felt connected to the rehabilitation clinic and their homes. Research design. Participants were twice interviewed about their experiences and expectations, once in the rehabilitation clinic and once at home. Results. The relationships with other patients in the rehabilitation clinic was important for the participants. Most participants had positive expectations about going home, but when they were home they noticed they still had troubles with fatigue and mobility. Some participants felt a strong attachment to the rehabilitation clinic. Conclusion. Expectations differed from the experiences that the participants had at home. The participants experienced more problems than they expected when they were at home.
