Abstract
This thesis aims to discover the correlation between population development and the number of jobs per 1000 inhabitants of a municipality within a range of 30 kilometers of the municipality of Groningen. The correlation between population development and the jobs ratio was tested using a linear regression. There is no correlation between the dependent and the independent variables. However, after the control variables were added, there was a linear correlation. The ratio of people aged between 15-25 and 25-45 correlates positively with the jobs ratio. The age group 45-65 correlates negatively with the jobs ratio. Education levels of university and university of applied sciences also showed a positive correlation with the jobs ratio. People both follow jobs and jobs follow people. Jobs tend to concentrate in the city, just as people in the age group of 15-45 with a university or university of applied sciences degree do.
