In certain area, the recovery often deals with relocation and resettlement. In the midst of the complex problem of conducting resettlement and providing a safer environment for community, a top-down planning is modified with different planning approaches to address the dynamics of the situation. The aim of this research is to understand the planning process during the post-disaster recovery and to acknowledge the difficulties of top-down planning implementation in resettlement. The paper uses the method of qualitative research through secondary data, primary data, and in-depth interview to give a comprehensive picture of the case. This thesis concludes that the top-down planning adapts to the complex situation by applying a community-based approach to allow more flexible coordination among stakeholders and active participation in the community. Hence, lessons-learned are presented for further post-disaster planning policy. date: 2014 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: EIP tutors_name: Arce, Karina Castro keywords_local: top-down planning, post-disaster recovery, resettlement language_iso: en titleorder: Post-disaster Planning in Resettlement Project dbi: 5405d2737fa5b imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/EIP/2014/aruminingsih/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132454-5405d2737fa5b.xml date_issued: 2014-01-01 description_company: University of Groningen citation: Aruminingsih (2014) The Post-disaster Planning in Resettlement Project.
