Although diffrences were found, in general Zanzibar was mainly presented as an exotic beach destination, where tourists can enjoy nice sunsets and blue seas, while staying in luxurious hotels. The distinctive cultural traits such as local people, buildings and streetviews were shown far less. The second part of the study examined the cultural impact of tourism on Zanzibar. The author argues that, also compared to other island destinations, the influence of tourism on local culture and people seems moderate. date: 2011 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: CG tutors_name: Strijker, D. keywords_local: Place Products keywords_local: Representations keywords_local: Zanzibar keywords_local: Third World Tourism keywords_local: Tourism keywords_local: Power Relations keywords_local: Cultutal Impacts language_iso: en titleorder: Representations of Paradise dbi: 4e6f6cbfe3cd6 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/CG/2011/ccscholtens/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132453-4e6f6cbfe3cd6.xml date_issued: 2011-01-01 citation: Scholtens, C.C.
