Throughout this research, the applicability of graph theory in dealing with increasing complexity in networks has been studied. A case study on the network of the region of Zwolle is done with a subsequent comparative study of the more or less similar network of the region of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The case study and comparison led to Zwolle in its respective railroad network as the most important of the two in its one hour travel network. The differences between the networks were measured using the contextualised indicator, the betweenness centrality as graph theory derivative. The outcomes of the case study include a framework containing guidelines how to apply graph theory to inter city networks. However, this topic requires a lot more research since it is still in its infancy. date: 2017 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: EIP tutors_name: Kann, F.M.G. van keywords_local: (Rail)road networks keywords_local: Graph theory keywords_local: Transportation planning keywords_local: Dynamic Adaptive Planning language_iso: en titleorder: Bridging the gap from graph theory to transportation planning in inter city networks. dbi: 58dbc40c30054 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/EIP/2017/aebuijtenweg/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132454-58dbc40c30054.xml date_issued: 2017-01-01 citation: Buijtenweg, A.E.
