Data from Statistics Netherlands was used. Old age mortality was measured using the life expectancy at age 80 and the age standardized mortality rate 80+. For the cause of death analysis age and cause specific mortality rates 80+ and the decomposition technique from Arriaga were used. Z-scores and GIS were used to further analyze the results. The results showed there are regional differences in old age mortality in the Northern Netherlands, at both municipality and Corop level.
