description: The main objective of this research is to determine demographic, socioeconomic, attitude, and subjective norms related factors influencing, and the impact of government family planning programmes on the current use of modern contraceptive methods among married women in Nepal. The analysis shows that women’s age, number of living children, educational attainment, wealth status, occupational status, exposure on TV, visited by family planning field workers, desire for more children, ideal number of children have significant and  positive effect on use of modern contraception. However type of place of residence, exposure to radio, and subjective norms related both variables (contraception is women’s business, and sterilised women become promiscuous) have no significant effect on use of modern contraception. This study suggests that the family planning activities through family planning field worker should be continue to promote use of modern contraception and also extend the family planning program from TV than from radio.
