This has traditionally been the responsibility of those that plan the city or that of individuals on their private property. This thesis looks beyond the traditional approach to incorporating green space in the urban landscape and rather looks at the transformation made possible by the socio-ecological practices of guerrilla gardening and urban gardening as well as why and how people get involved in urban greening in the cities of Groningen and London. Green space is only a part of the ever changing, organic entity which is the city and by exploring urban transformation through socio-ecological practices we can come to a better understanding of the urban dynamics significant to contemporary planning. date: 2014 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: EIP tutors_name: Parra, C. keywords_local: place-making keywords_local: social innovation keywords_local: green space governance keywords_local: green space keywords_local: urban transformation keywords_local: socio-ecological practices keywords_local: place-keeping keywords_local: bottom-linked practices language_iso: en titleorder: Green renovation: socio-ecological practices and the transformation of urban landscapes in Groningen and London dbi: 541048503c88c imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/EIP/2014/snspijker/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132454-541048503c88c.xml date_issued: 2014-01-01 citation: Spijker, S.N.
