There is a growing interest into how the built environment and the design of public spaces affects people’s physical and mental health. The two fields of urban planning and public health are more coming together and researchers try to bridge the gap between the fields. An integrated planning approach is needed to contribute to health-promoting spatial planning. However this integration is in an early stage and needs better understanding. This research contributes to this by looking how ambitions for a healthy city can be translated into spatial interventions in the neighbourhood. Selwerd and De Indische Buurt/De Hoogte served as case studies: these neighbourhoods will be regenerated within the upcoming years. Next to a document analysis 13 in-depth interviews were held with stakeholders and experts to get insights into this integration process. date: 2018 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: SP tutors_name: Niekerk, F. keywords_local: Neighbourhood renewal keywords_local: Integration keywords_local: Urban planning keywords_local: Public health keywords_local: Healthy cities language_iso: en titleorder: Planning for Healthy Urban Environments dbi: 5bb5d8a491306 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/Plan/2018/addevries/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5bb5d8a491306.xml date_issued: 2018-01-01 citation: Vries, A.D. de (2018) Planning for Healthy Urban Environments.
