Various statistical analyses were carried out using the data from the 2006/07 Namibian Demographic Health Survey. Results show that there is more over nutrition than under nutrition occurring within the female population of Namibia. Also there is a positive relationship present between SES (wealth indices) and BMI. Other factors that influence the nutritional status of women are age, parity, education and the working status of a woman. In conclusion, Namibia has not experienced the nutrition transition fully but it is on its way. However, it is still the richer female population which suffers from overweight and obesity showing that Namibia has not reached the stages of developed countries, but will probably reach that stage with increased urbanization. date: 2012 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: POPST tutors_name: Haisma, H keywords_local: women keywords_local: nutritional status keywords_local: obesity keywords_local: overweight keywords_local: BMI keywords_local: nutrition transition keywords_local: socioeconomic status (SES) keywords_local: Namibia language_iso: en titleorder: Socioeconomic status and nutritional status in Namibian women: An investigation into the relationship between socioeconomic status and nutritional status in Namibian women and other possible influences dbi: 50d03d126b9ee imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/PopSt/2012/kvrijburg/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132453-50d03d126b9ee.xml date_issued: 2012-01-01 citation: Vrijburg, Karin (2012) Socioeconomic status and nutritional status in Namibian women: An investigation into the relationship between socioeconomic status and nutritional status in Namibian women and other possible influences.
