Consequently, contemporary planning approaches have to be reconsidered. This thesis aims to do so by looking into the concept of Utopia and finding out what the impacts of contemporary Utopias are on people, places and plans. By conceptualising Utopia in relation to planning, and looking into the ways in which it can have influence, it tries to find out what role Utopias play in planning practice of today. Based on twelve cases of Dutch Utopias, this thesis concludes that there is great merit to considering Utopias in planning and that it offers possibilities for better ways of developing places. date: 2018 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: RS tutors_name: Dijk, T. van keywords_local: Persuasive storytelling keywords_local: Visions keywords_local: Spatial planning keywords_local: Utopia keywords_local: Radical planning language_iso: en titleorder: Utopia Uncovered: The role of Utopia in contemporary spatial planning dbi: 5bc88ba757b13 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/RS/2018/jkoning/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5bc88ba757b13.xml date_issued: 2018-01-01 citation: Koning, J.
