This research deals with the consequences of this coal plant for tourism at Borkum, relating to a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) which focuses on social consequences of planned interventions. Surveys and semi-interviews showed that both tourists and entrepreneurs at Borkum fear negative environmental, esthetic and economic effects from the coal plant. The entrepreneurs mainly fear economic effects while the tourists are in general afraid of environmental impacts. The tourists will most likely still visit Borkum after the coal plant has been completed, although actual negative environmental impacts might influence their decision to visit Borkum in the future. date: 2013 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: en identifier: https://frw.studenttheses.ub.rug.nl/1669/1/s2045311_Bachelorproject_eindversie.pdf identifier: Dragt, J.L.
