This thesis examines the association between singleperson households and property prices by using an instrument variable approach within a two-stage least square regression (2SLS), using 67,524 observations of property transactions in Paris metropolitan area, France in 2015. Results show a positive association between the share of single-person households and property prices, moreover the association between single-person households and apartment prices, compared to house prices is tested and discussed. These results are relevant for housing market analysts and investors and helps in understanding market factors, as well as for policy makers and city planners for planning and provision of housing. date: 2020 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: VG tutors_name: Duijn, M. keywords_local: Transaction Prices keywords_local: Single-person households keywords_local: 2SLS language_iso: en titleorder: Singles in the City: The association between single-person households and property transaction prices dbi: 5e34436de3efd imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/VG/2020/mwiersma/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5e34436de3efd.xml date_issued: 2020-01-01 citation: Wiersma, Margreet (2020) Singles in the City: The association between single-person households and property transaction prices.
