By decreasing the use of impermeable surface in private gardens, citizens can contribute to decrease the chances of pluvial flooding. However, citizens are not always aware of the problem and solutions, or willing to act. By engaging citizens, the municipality can work together with its citizens to find solutions that do not only have positive impact on the individual level, but also on a social level. This type of engagement can be described as the governance form of co-production, where the municipality has a facilitating role, supporting its citizens in the process of taking measures to decrease the chance of pluvial flooding. date: 2018 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: SP tutors_name: van den Brink, M.A. keywords_local: Active Citizenship keywords_local: Citizen Engagement keywords_local: Impermeable Surface keywords_local: Pluvial Flooding keywords_local: Awareness keywords_local: Willingness language_iso: en titleorder: Facilitating Private Gardens to Reduce Pluvial Flooding in the City of Groningen dbi: 5bb5e5de267f6 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/Plan/2018/jjbouma/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5bb5e5de267f6.xml date_issued: 2018-01-01 citation: Bouma, J.J.
