Florida asserts that the creative class is the driving force behind economic growth. The aim of this thesis is to research if the most creative metropolitan areas (according to Richard Florida) in the United States also have the highest levels of economic growth. The main question therefore is: “Are the most creative metropolitan areas in the United States also the metropolitan areas with the highest levels of economic growth? “. To answer this question I will research the 20 most creative metropolitan areas and compare these with other rankings and economic growth data. At the end it seems that the most creative metropolitan areas don’t necessarily have the highest levels of economic growth and are therefore not always the best performing metropolitan areas in the United States. date: 2013 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: SGP tutors_name: teen, P.J.M. van tutors_name: Norris, D.A. keywords_local: Richard keywords_local: Areas keywords_local: Metropolitan keywords_local: Metropolis keywords_local: Cities keywords_local: City keywords_local: United States keywords_local: Growth keywords_local: Economic keywords_local: Class keywords_local: Creative keywords_local: Florida keywords_local: Rochester language_iso: en titleorder: Creative Class and Economic Growth in U.S. Metropolitan Areas dbi: 521f35800d5db imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ba/SGP/2013/rtersteeg/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132454-521f35800d5db.xml date_issued: 2013-01-01 citation: Steeg, R. ter (2013) Creative Class and Economic Growth in U.S. Metropolitan Areas.
