Interviews with E-waste race/arcade, Stichting Aap, and Recycleplan were conducted as well as interviews with 5 individual young adults. The most important findings are that applying information increases the awareness of young adults in the Netherlands, but information does not necessarily lead to an increased willingness to recycle small e-waste. Other factors, such as convenience and sustainability play also a role. Moreover, citizen initiatives are closer to the citizens but are also aiming at making money, which could cause selfish decisions. To overcome the issue of making selfish decisions, citizen initiatives could make their strategy and the results of their strategy more transparent. date: 2019 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: TP tutors_name: Zhao, Y. keywords_local: Information application keywords_local: Citizen initiatives keywords_local: Recycling keywords_local: E-waste keywords_local: CSO keywords_local: Willingness language_iso: en titleorder: Growing e-waste mountain: do citizen initiatives decrease it? dbi: 5d52c239c6a41 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ba/TP/2019/jvanderwal/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5d52c239c6a41.xml date_issued: 2019-01-01 citation: Wal, J. van der (2019) The growing e-waste mountain: do citizen initiatives decrease it?
