Social relations are an important factor in well-being of people. This qualitative study investigates the role of social interactions on well-being of elderly. Network theory of social capital and SPF-theory are used to conceptualize the process of social interactions and well-being. Social capital as the investment in social relations and SPF-theory to study how investment is contributing to well-being. The study was conducted in an assisted living facility in Coevorden, ‘De Schutse’. Results indicate that contact with children is deep and intense and the relation with children is of major importance through affection. Participation is experienced positive and relates to physical well-being of the respondents.
