In cases where there already is social cohesion, this would mean breaking up the social cohesion in order to create a new cohesive neighbourhood. However, this relationship between socio economic diversity and social cohesion is not straightforward at all. The research then proposes a model which explains how the social distance between groups can prevent a neighbourhood from building social cohesion. To validate these characteristics, this research conducted ten interviews with inhabitants living in Vinkhuizen, a neighbourhood in Groningen which underwent spatial renovation between 2000 and 2007 where the concept of social mixing was applied. date: 2019 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: en identifier: https://frw.studenttheses.ub.rug.nl/2358/1/Master_Thesis_-_The_Social_Coh_1.pdf identifier: Terpstra, P.
