In cases where there already is social cohesion, this would mean breaking up the social cohesion in order to create a new cohesive neighbourhood. However, this relationship between socio economic diversity and social cohesion is not straightforward at all. The research then proposes a model which explains how the social distance between groups can prevent a neighbourhood from building social cohesion. To validate these characteristics, this research conducted ten interviews with inhabitants living in Vinkhuizen, a neighbourhood in Groningen which underwent spatial renovation between 2000 and 2007 where the concept of social mixing was applied. date: 2019 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: SP tutors_name: Wind, B. keywords_local: Social Distance keywords_local: Neighbourhood Renovation keywords_local: Socio Economic Diversity keywords_local: Social Mixing keywords_local: Social Cohesion keywords_local: The Netherlands language_iso: en titleorder: Social Cohesion Paradox: A Case Study of the Neighbourhood Vinkhuizen, Groningen dbi: 5d4ac4f614e10 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/Plan/2019/rterpstra/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5d4ac4f614e10.xml date_issued: 2019-01-01 citation: Terpstra, P.
