The main problem is that these debates are mostly in the hands of the public and the media, which denies the creation of effective policy supported by empirical evidence. This dissertation aims to explore the extent to which gentrification and Airbnb intersect to form a policy recommendation. A multiple linear regression showed a small correlation between Airbnb presence and gentrification in Milanese neighbourhoods. This implies a higher Airbnb presence is more likely in gentrified neighbourhoods, potentially aggrevating gentrifying processes further. It is concluded that Airbnb follows after gentrification, which forces policies to focus on an intersectoral approach to gentrification. date: 2019 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: EIP tutors_name: Stoffelen, A keywords_local: regression keywords_local: regulation keywords_local: tourism gentrification keywords_local: Airbnb keywords_local: sharing economy language_iso: en titleorder: Airbnb and Tourism Gentrification: Implications in the Milanese Context dbi: 5d8b614d33db7 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/EIP/2019/hvanslooten/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5d8b614d33db7.xml date_issued: 2019-01-01 description_company: University of Groningen citation: Slooten, H. van (2019) Airbnb and Tourism Gentrification: Implications in the Milanese Context.
