The aim is to find out the effect that radical assimilation of the first generation Dutch on their descendants had and to show the factors that determine the level of interest Dutch descendants in Australia express into their heritage. There is an implicit Dutch feeling among Dutch second and third generation in Australia that is subordinated to their Australian identity. They are modestly Dutch, but silently proud. The Dutch identity is less apparent for third generation than for second generation, the Dutch connection dilutes over time and when generations pass on. date: 2013 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: POPST tutors_name: van Wissen, L.J.G. keywords_local: Generations keywords_local: Assimilation keywords_local: Dutch Ancestry keywords_local: Australia language_iso: en titleorder: Second and Third Generation Dutch in Australia; A gualitative study about the meaning of having Dutch ancestry for descendants of post-war Dutch migrants in Australia dbi: 521f5a5810ced imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/PopSt/2013/dhkoop/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132454-521f5a5810ced.xml date_issued: 2013-01-01 description_company: Royal Netherlands Embassy Canberra, Australia citation: Koop, D.H.
