The research makes use of empirical data, obtained by surveys and interviews with citizens and other stakeholders. The paper concludes that Airbnb’s effect on the housing supply and on livability are perceived as the most important downsides. Airbnb in general is still mostly perceived as a positive phenomenon in both cities. There is a difference in the experienced nuisance and in the perception of regulations. Citizens of Amsterdam are mostly content with the regulations but want them to be maintained more thoroughly and most citizens of Utrecht are not familiar with the regulations. date: 2018 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: SGP tutors_name: Liu, X keywords_local: Shared economy keywords_local: Perceptions keywords_local: Utrecht keywords_local: Amsterdam keywords_local: Regulations keywords_local: Airbnb keywords_local: Durability language_iso: en titleorder: Perception of Airbnb in Amsterdam and Utrecht dbi: 5c4ae9fe2efb0 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ba/SGP/2018/mwterscheggel/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5c4ae9fe2efb0.xml date_issued: 2018-01-01 description_company: Rijksuniversiteit Groningen citation: Schegget, M.W. ter (2018) The Perception of Airbnb in Amsterdam and Utrecht.
