To accomplish this, housing characteristics and control variables were chosen based on literature. These variables were then selected from a large dataset focused on the United Kingdom and entered into ordinal logit regression analysis. The findings show multiple socio-demographic variables to have a significant effect on subjective well-being, as well as certain economic activities. Regarding housing characteristics, type of housing tenure is shown to have a significant effect on subjective well-being, as well as noise in the neighbourhood and problems experienced in the neighbourhood, which is attributed to these two variables being representative of general neighbourhood quality. For future research, a larger scale of research with more precise housing characteristic variables is suggested.
