"The Netherlands is experiencing growth in residential high-rise development. The reason for this lies in the growing demand in urban living and restrictions on city expansion. Residential high-rises are seen as a solution to the pressure on the housing market. Nonetheless, high-rises appear not to be very attractive living climates. Social relations among high-rise residents are often low. This is a research by design which investigates how social interaction and cohesion in high-rises can be improved. For this, a practice analysis and a design studio with experts are carried out. Both investigate how design elements in high-rises can stimulate social behavior. From both analyses, a wide array of design features are identified. The design features vary in suitability for different contexts as they demand different costs and efforts. A developer or architect can pick and mix design elements best suiting their building."^^ . "2020" . . . . . . . "J."^^ . "Kootstra"^^ . "J. Kootstra"^^ . . . . . .
