Many concerns are present on soil quality and cover cropping shows positive potential to preserve this quality. A researchgap exists as there is no knowledge on this and post-growth hasn't been linked to agriculture or spatial planning alike. In order to investigate this, 5 qualitative interviews with farmers in different agricultural subsectors (strong differences in experiences) along with quantitative literature on the topics of soil quality and cover cropping is used. Also photos are used to serve as illustrations and examples. Link between post-growth and cover cropping is that both are experimental, learn from failure and succes and require a strong communicative rationale. Quality is preserved due to decreasing need for (artificial) fertilizers and improved rooting with better water holding capacities. These are also the advantages along with fauna shelter, green surface during the winter, reduced erosion and CO2 uptake during the winter. Disadvantages are mostly costs, also some fertilizer is always needed as cover cropping won't work otherwise. Land is also wetter with cover cropping. When applying on a municipal spatial scale, a tailor-made, location-specific and target-group oriented approach is needed. As well as proper communication between all involved actors. date: 2021 pages: 36 thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: TP tutors_name: Lamker, C.W. tutors_organization: Fac.
