        abstract = {Research has been done on the perceptions of nature of various groups differing in social demographics. This study does not look into the demographics, but starts from the recreational behavior of people on Terschelling, specifically studying on or off-path recreation. By the use of GPS  the walking behavior of respondents is mapped. A survey is used to detect several preferences of our respondents, like their perceptions of nature (determined by the perceptions Wilderness , Arcadian and Functional) and their perceptions on the management of the land, which are determined by the Attractive nature view, Attachment view and Rurality view of Buijs (2009). One of the questions is whether the perception on the management of the land can be forecasted by knowing the respondent?s perception of nature.},
