Participation gains more relevance as Berlin grows as a city and becomes more attractive to migration flows. Simultaneously, digitalisation starts to find its way into planning practice, which lead to the release of meinBerlin.de by the Senate. This tool is seen as the primary tool for e-Participation for inner-city transformation processes (of Berlin), intending to increase citizens’ participation and increase diversity.  However, this research aimed to understand how and to what extent the experience of citizens and planners differ with eParticipation. Therefore, this study used semi-structured interviews to collect data and a diverse group of citizens were contacted to illustrate a broader picture. Additionally, several traditional and digital planning experts were contacted.  This research proves the theory that the primary motivation for citizens participation in spatial proximity and interest in projects. Nevertheless, both parties are satisfied with the tool, but the tool is still under construction and has certain limitations and things to improve.  One major issue, stated by both parties, is the awareness of the tool among citizens, which is still low and needs more advertisement by the city of Berlin.  Future studies of citizen participation and e-Participation should understand how marginalised groups can be included more and affect actual planning practices.
