Previous research suggests the urbanity level of the living environment as a factor that influences overweight levels. This research aims to exam the urban-rural differences in childhood overweight levels in order to better understand the causes of childhood overweight, with the following research question: To what extent does the urbanity level of the living environment influence the chances of children (aged 2-17) being overweight in Germany? To identify trends in German childhood overweight, this study made use of available literature on childhood overweight and a statistical analysis of the KIGGS dataset. From this study can be concluded that there are no urban-rural differences in childhood overweight levels despite results from other studies that do suggest urban-rural differences. An explanation for this result might be differences between urban-rural distinctions. date: 2019 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: SGP tutors_name: Vogt, T. keywords_local: physical activity keywords_local: childhood overweight keywords_local: living environment keywords_local: urbanity level keywords_local: urban-rural differences keywords_local: socioeconomic status keywords_local: Germany language_iso: en titleorder: Urban-rural differences in childhood overweight dbi: 5d42c24344936 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ba/SGP/2019/sakellij/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5d42c24344936.xml date_issued: 2019-01-01 citation: Kellij, S.A.
