This thesis investigates the gender differences within parents’ perception of the environmental issue and activism by studying the existing literature and analysing the primary data obtained by one-to-one and focus group interviews with six parental couples from Dugi Rat. This research shows that motherhood and fatherhood can bear different perceptions of environmental issue harmfulness which can be due to the gendered responsibilities within the private sphere. When it comes to public sphere, the mothers of Dugi Rat were the ones whose care for children ultimately resulted in leading public activist events and whose maternal bond was used to inspire other mothers to come to protest and invite their husbands to join the movement. date: 2022 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: en identifier: https://frw.studenttheses.ub.rug.nl/3864/1/S3787486_BachelorThesis.pdf identifier: Puljiz, Filip (2022) Parental activism in Dugi Rat: A case study on the influence of a slag landfill on maternal and paternal life.
