This process reintegrates unused and underdeveloped former industrial sites back into the urban fabric by means of a complex renovation process. The complexities of this process are highlighted and positioned within the Hungarian frame of reference. The research question focuses on the current quality and functionality of two recently regenerated Hungarian brownfields. The characteristics of sustainability, public participation, history and functions are used as descriptive measures to gauge the extent to which the selected regenerated brownfields are successful. Interviews with professionals and surveys among local residents help to illustrate the process of brownfield regeneration in Hungary. The two regenerated brownfields that were examined are of decent quality and functionality. However, both projects could’ve been better, had a number of changes been executed, the most important of which is the more efficient use of public participation. date: 2020 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: TP tutors_name: Steen, P.J.M. van keywords_local: Urban planning keywords_local: Spatial planning keywords_local: Brownfield regeneration keywords_local: Budapest keywords_local: Hungary language_iso: en titleorder: Brownfield regeneration in Budapest, Hungary - An analysis of the quality and functionality of two regenerated brownfields dbi: 5e43cc9231e40 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ba/TP/2020/ndefauw/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-5e43cc9231e40.xml date_issued: 2020-01-01 citation: Fauw, N. de (2020) Brownfield regeneration in Budapest, Hungary - An analysis of the quality and functionality of two regenerated brownfields.
