TY - UNPB ID - theses_frw3919 M1 - bachelor N2 - Learning culture has been recognised as an enabler of knowledge exchange within organisations and is a heavily studied subject. This study will research how learning culture within Dutch organisations impacts critical skill loss concerning legacy systems. As legacy systems require specialized knowledge which is students do not learn during their educational career. Another factor determining critical skill loss is due to the competitive labour market which results in people often switching jobs. This outflow of knowledge is identified as critical skill loss. Learning culture is defined using the dimensions of learning organisation questionnaire by Watkins and Marsick (2003). Semi-structured interviews were conducted to get a better insight in learning culture within Dutch organisations and to see the impact this has on the prevention on skill obsolescence. The study first lays down a theoretical framework in which the core concepts are further explained. Afterwards the results of the qualitative data collection are discussed and the study ends with a reflection on the research and recommendations for further research.
