This research therefore answers the question to what extend quality can be found in the local planning process. This is done through the criteria found in the literature about quality of space, which are founded on the pillars of sustainable development (economy, society, environment), culture and utility, future and perceived values. This research shows that the criteria of quality of space can be found on a local level, even when the concept itself isn't actively used. The concept is thus usefull for a better understanding of what people want and need in their surrounding space. The concept is founded on internationally valued aspects, while the criteria are flexible enough to use in different contexts.
