"This paper conducts a literature review of the theoretical intersections of research in migration, health,\r\nand queer geographies and identifies a lack of academic understanding in the intersection of all three\r\nbodies of research. In order to find a non-cisheteronormative post-structural agency-driven rationale that\r\ncould explain the effect of queer identity on desired health, desired health’s effect on queer migration,\r\nand the capability of queer migrants of attaining said health through healthcare, a set of semi-structured\r\nin-depth interviews with queer migrants was conducted. This paper makes use of a desire-production\r\nmechanism allowing participants to define their own conceptualization of health, within queer identity\r\nthat constitutes agency in a structure-agency dialectic. Using Grounded theory inductive methodology,\r\nguided by the participant’s voiced desire, various concepts of health, as well as desired healthcare and\r\ncapabilities emerged from the data. Participants identified that queer identity has a determining role in\r\ntheir desired health, which includes mental and social health, as well as physical health including gender\r\naffirmation. Wanting to attain this desired health through healthcare, it either motivated their decision\r\nto migrate or played a role in destination choice.
