Using Groningen's international students as a case study, this\r\nresearch aims to uncover oRen-overlooked practices and experiences related to homemaking\r\nwithin student rental housing. Within the expanded framework inspired by Eghbali, the study\r\ndelves into three homemaking aspects -- institutional, material, and societal. The emotional facet\r\nof living experience is encapsulated by the concept of “ontological security”. Empirical findings\r\nfrom qualitative interviews demonstrate that prevailing housing policies and selection processes\r\nhave a cumulative negative impact on international students in the Netherlands. The\r\ntemporariness enhanced by spatial constraints and uncertain6es hampers homemaking\r\nendeavors. Moreover, daily interac6ons with roommates and poten6al guests significantly\r\ninfluence ontological security, aligning with previous research.
