There are five factors; regulation, technology, prosperity, competition and consumer behaviour that influenced the tourist sector and are responsible for the evolution of information channels. As a result multiple information channels have occurred such as Internet, and GDS. The information channels that are used to set the tourists and the supply side in contact with each other appear to meet the requirements to fulfill the tourist’s needs. New information channels do not seem necessary yet, but customer behaviour is changing and even older aged tourist segments are adapting the new channels offered by the tourist industry. Therefore the conclusion can be made that provision of new information channels may help to fulfill the tourist’s needs in the future. date: 2015 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: EG tutors_name: Steen, P.J.M. van keywords_local: Riga keywords_local: channels keywords_local: information keywords_local: tourist keywords_local: tourism language_iso: en titleorder: Evolution of information channels within the tourist sector: A case study about Riga dbi: 556722dcb73d2 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/EG/2015/hjvisscher/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132454-556722dcb73d2.xml date_issued: 2015-01-01 description_company: RUG citation: Visscher H.J.
