An analysis of planning efforts in the 21st century follows, with specific attention on the projects for the 2004 Olympics. The December 2008 insurrection is brought to focus regarding power relations and claims for the right to the city. Furthermore, future planning (the Strategic Plan for Athens/Attica) is critically reviewed.
