The data is analysed with the aid of tourist gaze theory (Urry, 1991). The tourist gaze consists of 5 categories: ‘daily life activities’, ‘signs’, ‘senses’, ‘unique elements’ and ‘unique objects’. The most important findings: 68% of the respondents had a clear perception of the Israel-Palestine conflict before they visited Israel and while visiting Israel. This perception was mainly based on the following categories of tourist gaze: ’signs’, ‘senses’ and ‘daily life activities’. date: 2012 date_type: published thesis_type: master degree_programme: CG tutors_name: Vanclay, F. keywords_local: Perceptie keywords_local: toerisme keywords_local: conflictgebied language_iso: en titleorder: Holiday in a conflicted area - A qualitative analysis about changes in tourist perceptions about the Israel-Palestine conflict dbi: 5035ef7d7311e imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ma/CG/2012/astiphout/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132453-5035ef7d7311e.xml date_issued: 2012-01-01 citation: Stiphout, A.
