Since childhood obesity and Metabolic Syndrome in youth is increasing and crucial for predicting the development of other lifestyle related diseases in later life, it is useful to research if and how diet influences the presence of Metabolic Syndrome. Therefore, the aim of this study is to identify differences in health outcomes for youth by comparing this with the different types of foods they consume. Secondly, possibly found effects will be controlled for by using socio-economic status of parents, physical activity and age. For this study, German data from the baseline study of KiGGs, conducted by the Robert Koch Institute between 2003-2006, will be used.
