A research into the motives of runners to run where they do. ispublished: pub full_text_status: public abstract: This thesis studies the motivations for the place of physical activity for runners, and how geography influences the amount of physical activity conducted. The rural appeared to be the most preferred place for physical activity among runners. The environment and perceived safety are not significantly influencing physical activity levels of respondents. The thesis also showed that older respondents tend to be slightly more physically active than their younger peers, that people would run more if the environment was more suitable to do so, and that feelings of unsafety are mainly prevalent in women. date: 2017 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: SGP tutors_name: Strijker, D. tutors_name: Silveira Brito, M. keywords_local: Health keywords_local: Rural keywords_local: Urban keywords_local: Running keywords_local: Physical activity keywords_local: Environment keywords_local: Safety language_iso: en titleorder: Urban or rural running?
