This research will give more insight in the perception of the public transport by people living in rural areas. The results show that the teenagers benefit a lot from public transport, because they do not own a car. Older people are expected to benefit a lot as well, but most of them have a car as alternative. Main motives for people to use public transport are travel time, weather and not owning a car. The most important motive for not using public transport was the availability of a car, which is faster, more reliable and more flexible. In general people are happy with the availability of public transport, but for many of them it does not improve the accessibility to cities. date: 2017 date_type: published thesis_type: bachelor degree_programme: SGP tutors_name: Strijker, D. tutors_name: Silveira Brito, M. keywords_local: Accessibility keywords_local: Rural keywords_local: Public Transport keywords_local: Transportation language_iso: en titleorder: Public Transport in Rural Areas dbi: 598835227bbb9 imported_item: yes date_of_import: 2020-04-22 imported_from: http://scripties.frw.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/root/ba/SGP/2017/jmijnheer/ import_source_file: theses-frw-20200422132455-598835227bbb9.xml date_issued: 2017-01-01 citation: Mijnheer, J.
