Theoretical knowledge of urban housing demolition and household relocation compensation and SIA are introduced as basis. Transition process of Chinese compensation system and policy is explored to link knowledge with contexts. Six cases in eastern developed coastal areas are classified into two types: sudden wealth by compensation and forced demolition. Expressions of social impacts are examined by 8 types of social changes. The results indicate that in the first type social impacts by changes of personal and property rights and people’s way of life are predominant, while in the second type changes of personal and property rights and political system have more significant impacts. These findings help to add to empirical contribution to how SIA could be applied in future compensation policy making process. date: 2011 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: en identifier: https://frw.studenttheses.ub.rug.nl/990/1/Master_Thesis_Yi_Wang_S2057433.pdf identifier: Wang, Yi (2011) Urban Housing Demolition and Household Relocation Compensation: A Case Study of Compensation Practices in China Based on SIA.
