Abstract
In this thesis spatial developments in the Wadden Sea Region are critically analysed, using the concept of transitions as an analytical framework. This analysis has resulted in a several striking observations, confronting current spatial dynamics with existing planning policies and strategies. Based on this analysis, recommendations for planning strategies are made, the added value of the concept of transitions as well as the theoretical propositions are discussed, concluding with some final remarks on the position of the spatial planning considering current spatial dynamics.
