Abstract
This thesis investigates the process of the international (e)migration of the companies. The characteristics, the extent and the patterns of the investments and relocations of the companies from the Netherlands and Japan have been studied. The major conclusions are that the investments have been concentrated in the neighbour countries (Netherlands) and the developed countries (Netherlands and Japan). The negative effects on the labour market are still insignificant. There are similarities between the Netherlands and Japan, but also differences which are caused by the specific cultures (of companies), histories and geographies
